Allure Korea Interview - Beauty Blogger Feature
A while back I was contacted by the beauty editor of Korean Allure magazine asking if I would like to participate in an interview for the beauty feature. At first I was wary but then thought sure why not?!
Altogether seven bloggers were featured including the lovely bloggers - Michelle from Lipstick Rules and Jerlene of Faces and Fingers, so I’m definitely honoured to be among such good company.
Here’s a quick scan my hubby did this morning

It’s in Korean of course but here’s the English translation
1. What is your specialty in the beauty? (make-up how to, or nail care, or cosmetic criticism?)
I really enjoy shopping for makeup and reviewing what I buy, as well as doing “face of the day” makeup posts where I apply my makeup and show people what makeup I am wearing. Sometimes I make youtube videos showing people what I have purchased recently as well as sharing what makeup and skincare products I have enjoyed using over the month.
2. What caused you to be a beauty specialist (blogger)?
I decided to become a beauty blogger as a hobby because I love makeup and beauty products, I enjoy being part of the beauty community, reading other beauty blogs and engaging with my readers and having blogger meets.
3. What are your frequently visited beauty places and beauty sites? And would you tell me full address and why do you like these sites?
The most frequented sites for me are :
Temptalia, http://www.temptalia.com/ for the swatches and makeup reviews
Karlasugar http://karlasugar.net/ also for swatches
Makeup Alley http://www.makeupalley.com/ for reviews that are written by consumers
Pixiwoos http://www.youtube.com/user/pixiwoo for excellent, easy to follow makeup tutorials
4. Where do you visit beauty places on your trip?
In Australia the best places to shop for makeup are the major department stores Myer and David Jones, where you can find all the beauty and perfume counters
5. What is the best beauty item in your lifetime?
Currently the best beauty item I have purchased has been the Urban Decay Naked palette, it’s a wonderful selection of neutral colours that are beautifully pigmented and nice to use.
6. What do you like the most among the hottest beauty item? And why do you think so?
I think things move very quickly in the beauty industry so it’s difficult to choose, currently I think bright coloured eyeshadow is wonderful and fun to use.
7. Which skincare item would be best suited for you? Choose one, please.
I enjoy using moisturisers by the Australian company MooGoo, because my skin is generally sensitive.
8. What is beauty trend in makeup and skincare? And why?
Mod, bright eyeshadow is an exciting and playful trend that can be easily adapted from the runway shows. As for skincare I think living a healthy lifestyle and using simple products that deliver results is the key for fresh glowing skin.
9. Which make-up change women dramatically? And do you have tips for these like this make-up?
I think eyeliner makes a dramatic change, you can use liquid or gel liner to create a sleek defined line which can elongate the eye or make the eyes appear rounder, or use a pencil liner to add simple definition or smudge it to create a simple yet sultry smokey eye look.
10. What is your favorite beauty specialist? (make-up artist, hair artist, manicurist, brand manager etc.)
Alex Box is an amazing makeup artist and the creative director for Illamasqua, her work is so exciting, innovative and inspirational.
11. What do you think about advantages and disadvantages as a beauty specialist?
The biggest advantage would definitely be the wonderful people I have met though this hobby, as well as being privy to new releases of products before they hit the shelves in stores. So far I’ve been lucky enough to not come across any disadvantages.
12. What kind of products do you apply in this morning and yesterday evening?
This morning I applied my MooGoo Anti-aging moisturiser and the same thing yesterday evening, I really like to keep my routine very simple and I don’t like to overload my skin with different products.
13. What is your special know-how for cleansing?
I really just like to use a microfibre cloth and warm water, sometimes if I feel a breakout coming I will use my Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit anti-acne face cleanser.
14. In your opinion, what is the 2011 beauty trend? And what is the most popular beauty item? Guess what.
I think the beauty trend for 2011 will be youthful natural beauty, the no-makeup makeup look, fresh dewy skin, natural shades worn on the eyes, rosie fleshy lips. I’m guessing the most popular beauty item will be a great foundation.
15. What is your favorite food and beverage for skin?
Eat loks of raw colourful fruit and vegetables and drink lots of water.
16. Have you heard any cosmetic procedure or cosmetic surgery in these days?
I have never had any cosmetic procedures, I don’t plan to either but I’m still young.
17. What is your favorite beauty icon? Why do you think so?
Bambi Northwood-Blyth, because she looks relaxed and naturally beautiful.
18. Do you have a item that you’d like to recommend to people in every cloud?
Estee Lauder Crystal Baby Lipstick, because it’s a lovely soft neutral pink that I think would suit everyone.
19. When you buy a cosmetic item, do you have a check list surely? (expiry date, ingredient, texture and etc.)
I don’t have a check list really but I do like to read the ingredients particularly when it comes to skincare.
20. What your favorite fragrance? And why?
My favourite fragrance is currently Thierry Mugler’s Womanity, because it reminds me of summer and the ocean.
21. Do you have tips for dry skin?
Mix a few drops of rosehip oil with your facial moisturiser for added hydration and spray your face with a facial mist like rosewater, or Avene thermal water.
1. As you are a beauty specialist, is there a difference between now and before life?
I’d say these days I am a more discerning consumer and I do a lot more research into makeup and beauty products before I go shopping.
2. Do you want to say something to <allure Korea> readers those who are interested in beauty?
Makeup and beauty should be fun and enjoyable, not a chore and of course above all inner beauty is the most important quality to have.
As you can see there are a few more questions and answers so I’m not quite sure which were omitted from the interview
